Trent Boult, a bowler for New Zealand, is “excited” about the chance to play India in the World Cup semi-final. On Thursday, the Kiwis defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets, bolstering their chances of making it to the finals.
With his composed manner, Boult cast a furious and economical spell that placed the Kiwis in control. New Zealand is now favored to play India in the semifinals after this win.
In his post-match remarks, Boult discussed the possibility of playing the ebullient “Men in Blue” and stated. “From our point of view, to play World Cup in India and to come up against the host nation. A team that’s red hot playing good cricket at a great ground – you couldn’t script it any better.”
Boult continued.
Yes, as I mentioned before, excellent players. They play a positive brand of cricket, so I guess making shots does give us a chance. However, we’ll be very clear about how we’re going to handle the situation if it arises; it’s still something that needs to be resolved. Nevertheless, I think there will be a lot of excitement and the prospect of that challenge. As it doesn’t get any bigger than playing India in front of 1.5 billion people. Yes, it’s really thrilling,” Boult continued.
Boult reached a significant milestone in New Zealand’s victory over Sri Lanka by becoming the first Kiwi bowler to record 50 wickets in the ODI World Cup.
In just 28 innings, Kusal Mendis, the captain of Sri Lanka, became his 50th victim in the competition. Only Mitchell Starc (19) of Australia and Lasith Malinga (25) of Sri Lanka have taken 50 wickets in fewer innings than him.

With his 50th wicket in the ODI World Cup, Boult became just the sixth bowler to reach that milestone. With 71 wickets under his belt, former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath leads the ODI World Cup in wicket-taking. In addition, he became the third bowler from the Blackcaps to reach 600 wickets in international cricket
“Very proud, not something that I was ever targeting, but yeah, everyone loves World Cup cricket.” He said, speaking about his personal accomplishments. Everyone wants to test their skills against the greatest players.
It’s nice to be contributing, and I consider myself very fortunate to have three campaigns in the ODI shares. Playing with all the guys here has been fun. We truly support one another on the team, and I have a lot of close friends there. It’s nice to talk about 50 this afternoon, and maybe even a few more.
Prior to the game, Trent Boult led the attack with the white ball as New Zealand’s pacers held Sri Lanka to a pitiful 171 runs. Despite a few false starts, the Kiwis managed to chase the target with three overs remaining and won by five wickets.
